SOLUTION

WEEK 8 JOURNAL ENTRY

The United States History class has been quite interesting and informative for me. I have learned a lot about our country’s past, especially through the discussion posts, whereby I have managed to share my knowledge as well as understand the concepts from my classmates. One key lesson I have learned is that I ought to be thankful for the milestones we have made as a country, as a lot was put in stake in the past to get where we are today. This lesson has been derived from the studies on various sections including American Revolution, The Civil War, World War I and II, and the terrorism in the 21st Century. Americans have sacrificed a lot to put our nation in line, and hence we should treasure the freedom we have.

The Effect of the Course in my Daily Life/Work

This course has had immense impact in my daily life. The lessons derived from the course have enabled me to be open minded and be in a position to accept diversity. I have learned of the unfortunate working conditions the minority groups such as black Americans were subjected to, and I wouldn’t want such in my workplace.  From the lessons, it is evident that during the Industrial Revolution, the black Americans mostly worked in factories and mines where they were worked for long hours, in solitary settings, and paid low wages (Corbett et al., 2016).
