  • Go online and look up your state constitution. Choose three state sections such as religious freedom, freedom of the press, etc. and discuss the guidelines for each.
  • Compare these sections to the equivalent section in the United States Bill of Rights. List differences, if any.

SOLUTION

Upholding the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of information are critical in any democratic country (Emery, 2015). In the New York State Article 1 Bill of Rights, each resident has the freedom of speech with regards to speaking, writing as well as publishing his/her opinion about myriad subjects and no law will b directed towards depriving the residents of their freedom of speech (Peradotto, 2020). However, freedom of speech is considered invalid and thus restricted when it is associated with slander, pornography, incitement, classified information, non-disclosure agreements, public security, perjury, trade secrets, libel, right to privacy, obscenity, copyright violation, and sedition among others (Emery, 2015).
