SOLUTION
In medical-surgical nursing, nurses show empathy as the most common caring attribute towards their patients. Patients subjected to medical surgeries often feel scared because they do not know the outcomes of their health after medical surgeries. In this vein, nurses in the medical surgery department ensure that they communicate with patients to assure them that everything will be okay. In addition, after surgeries, nurses ensure to enquire from patients concerning any pain or discomfort they feel to deal with the issue and ensure proper care of patients. Notably, the attribute of engaging in patient communication prior stands out since it plays an exigent role in calming down patients’ anxiety levels which can have adverse negative impacts on the outcomes of surgeries (American Nursing Association, ANA, 2015).
