SOLUTION
Humanities were not taught in medical schools until the latter half of the 20th century (“Week 1 Lesson: The Value of the Humanities”, 2021). They became common practice following a realization that the medical education provided at the time needed changing. I concur with the decision to include humanities in nursing education; I find that it reintroduces the humane aspect of the profession. As nurses, I find that we humanities allow us to better understand our patients, their experiences, their cultural backgrounds, and even their worldviews. They also make us better at human interactions. Consequently, we enjoy better communication with our patients, their families, and other clinicians.
