The classical management theories assume that for a workplace to be ideal, three main concepts must be present and they include hierarchical structure, specialization as well as incentives.  Some of the main contributors of the classical theories include Fayol, Max Weber, and Fredrick Taylor who emphasized on enhancing organizational functions through efficiency and productivity. The theories are still widely used in the modern era, more so in the manufacturing sector, where organizational structure is paramount. Some studies however argue that the extent to which some of these theories apply in the modern organisations differ.

Taylor’s principles on employee selection procedure still apply in the modern age.
