SOLUTION

According to an article in The New York Times dated 8th June 2019, the healthcare business thrives on exploiting doctors and nurses. Many hospitals in the US are permitting organizational abuse, for instance by overworking the healthcare professionals. The professionals hardly have time to rest or have time for other personal activities. There has been a rapid increment of burnout cases among the professionals, with more than one half of the medical physicians and a third of nurses reporting to have experienced burnout related symptoms. According to Ofri (2019), the burnout epidemic is dangerous to patient care and may lead to a rise in the prevailing physicians’ shortage in the country. The article highlights a case whereby overwhelming workload, chaos at the hospitals, and pressure from emergencies are the key factors pushing the healthcare professionals into burnout episodes.
