The practice issue that is of concern to me is the role conflict between nurse practitioners (NPs) and physicians, especially following the implementation of the independent scope of practice for NPs who then assume some of the roles conventionally as physicians’ (Bernard, 2020). This role conflict negatively affects the relationship between the NP and physicians and thus, their collaborative efforts in patient care. Thus, to prevent the worsening of the relationship between them, there is the need for an intervention, which in this case, the identified intervention is the implementation of co-management and collaborative care model to guide NPs and physicians on how to work together in patient care (Norful, de Jacq, Carlino, & Poghosyan, 2018). The anticipated outcomes of this intervention are the reduction in conflicts between physicians and NPs and improvement in their teamwork and collaboration in patient care.
